The Secrets of Candarlin

Armed only with a pen and two dice, you will embark on this epic Fantasy Gamebook!

In this gamebook you'll take on the role of a young adventurer and find yourself in the city of Candarlin. Once it was the proud capital of the kingdom of Ogduria, but after a lost war the country is now part of the Numedian Empire.

Actually, you only had a simple mission. But because you assist a stranger, you suddenly find yourself in a whirlpool of events, where you have to fight off crooks, solve riddles and escape from the dungeon. It seems resistance against the invaders is stirring in the streets. But what does the secret society of the Night Shadows have to do with it? And what is it Lord Gamantis and the High Priest of Light search for so acutely?  

The Secrets of Candarlin stands within the tradition of gamebooks like Lone Wolf and Fighting Fantasy which I've always loved. I have kept the rules very simple. All you really need for the game is a pencil and two six-sided dice (2d6). When you have to take a check, whether in combat or in some other situation like climbing or swimming, you roll the dice. Then you add a value from the character sheet (attribute and/or skill). The final result indicates whether you passed the test or not.

I believe that both newbies and experienced roleplayers will enjoy The Secrets of Candarlin. I would especially recommend the adventure to children of 12 years and older.
